TEN Wangaratta Amateur Swimming Club members competed at the Victorian Sprint Swimming Championships at MSAC on the weekend, where the state’s best swimmers attack 50m events across four strokes.
• Nina Fortaliza competed in three strokes and achieved PBs in all three. Nina made it to the 50m breaststroke final and finished 8th in the state. She also improved her ranking in all three strokes – by 19 places in the 50m butterfly, six places in the 50m breaststroke and three places in the 50m freestyle.
• Ingrid Brettig achieved PBs in both of her swims, improving her ranking by 31 places in the 50m freestyle and by 14 places in the 50m breaststroke.
• Sofia Gallo competed in all four strokes and improved her ranking by six places with a PB in the 50m butterfly.
• Dylan Dickson achieved a PB in the 50m backstroke, improving his ranking by 14 places.
• Logan Pace improved his ranking by 14 places with a PB in the 50m butterfly.
• Evelyn Selby achieved a PB in the 50m butterfly, improving her ranking by seven places.
• Arabella Chapman achieved a PB in the 50m freestyle.
• Harry Allen, Alice Colson and Gabe Watson all qualified and competed in all four strokes.
Wangaratta Amateur Swimming Club now turns their focus to the Victorian Country Swimming Championships to be held in Traralgon on January 22-24.
Wangaratta has a team of 14 qualified swimmers traveling to Traralgon for the championship meet, a highlight of the country swimming calendar.
