WANGARATTA Amateur Swimming Club competed admirably against 32 of the best clubs in Country Victoria at the 2024 Victorian Country Championships in Traralgon last weekend.
The team of 14 qualifiers competed in 43 individual events, achieved 13 individual Personal Best times (PBs), and reached finals in eleven events.
Wangaratta Amateur also fielded eight relay teams, four of which improved their entry times and improved rankings.
Logan Pace and Patrick Hunter competed in the country championships for the first time, with Logan also competing in his first state event at the Victorian Sprint Championships last weekend.
The club capped off a busy fortnight after their meet in Melbourne for the sprint championships, which saw 10 club members compete.
Next up will be a home Oven and Murray Swimming Championships meet in Wangaratta on February 10-11 with the Ovens and Murray Relay Championships following on March 3 also in Wangaratta, before the Victorian Country All Junior Finals in Melbourne on March 17.
In between these meets, swimmers will begin participation in school swimming competitions in February, representing their Wangaratta schools in zone, regional and state school competitions.

Evelyn Selby – Girl's 13y 100m Butterfly.
Ingrid Brettig, Alice Colson, Nina Fortaliza, Sofia Gallo – Girl's 16 & under 50m Freestyle relay.
