Round three of the Wangaratta Lawn Tennis Croquet and Pickleball Club’s summer aggregate competition was played in overcast conditions, but that didn’t dampen the red-hot tennis action on the pristine Merriwa Park courts. Ryan Patterson picked up his first section one title, finishing with 24-13, accounting for Matt Allen’s 20-13. Kevin Callahan broke a little bit better than even with his 17-16, while Mark Brown (14-22) and Brian Scobie (11-22) brought up the rear. In section two, Mandy Allen was in fine form as she reached the end with a winning record of 22-15, while only a single loss separated Andrew Lindner (20-17) and Ashley Weston (20-18). Andrew Harris recorded 17-22, while Geoff Kyne finished on 15-22. It was tight at the top of section three, as Frank Harris and John Mansfield went neck and neck across the day. Section four saw an incredible three-way tie for top billing, as Andrew Cope, Thomas McDonald, and Pat Flynn all came in with 22-20. Mark Gorman was the only one in section four left out, finishing with 18-24. It was a similarly tight tussle in section five, with Joel Eulenstein (22-14) managing to hold off Maree Sullivan (22-16).
