NORTHEAST Health Wangaratta will receive more than $1.6 million from the State Government to bolster equipment and improve public hospital facilities.

Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, announced on Friday that $902,080 was being provided for laprascopic towers, as well as $734,791 for an air handling unit replacement.

Ms Symes said the laprascopic towers will provide advanced imaging, improved tumour detection, improved reporting to governance bodies, improved recording of patient clinical information and procedural efficiency and surgical through–put.

She said the project were among 128 across rural and regional Victoria sharing in more than $70 million through the government's Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF).

Other recipients across Northern Victoria are:

• Alpine Health – Myrtleford, Bright and Mt Beauty sites to receive $50,000 for air quality improvement and COVID filtration airflow upgrade; and $482,536 for X–ray equipment upgrades at all three sites;

• Walwa Bush Nursing Centre to receive $424,430 to upgrade nursing and general practitioner accommodation;

• Beechworth Health Service to receive $454,800 for floor covering replacement; and $350,000 for building fabric upgrade and rectification works;

• Corryong Health to receive $310,638 for the renewal of day procedure equipment;

• Tallangatta Health Service to receive $250,000 to develop a Primary Care Centre; and

• Albury Wodonga Health to receive $482,760 for a compliance project and $926,329 for upgrades and maintenance.

"These new projects right across Northern Victoria are about ensuring the community continues to receive modern and effective care," Ms Symes said.

"Through the RHIF, we're supporting health services deliver tailored solutions that are best suited to their patients and staff."
