Artisans of Eldorado and surrounds will showcase their wares during a Springfest Artisan Market being held in the beautiful Gunhouse Park in Eldorado this Saturday, 22 November The event is an opportunity for the many creatives who call the region home to share their talents, with a wide variety of unique, handcrafted arts and crafts for sale, and about 30 stalls to browse. The market is free for all the stallholders who are participating, so it is the artisans themselves who make the money. Among the items for sale will be art, craft and food, burgers, snags and vegetarian options, Salamis, Farm Eggs, Eldorado Garlic and Chilli, lasagnes, preserves, cards, prints, paintings, basket weaving mosaic, pottery, garden art, polymer clay jewellery, bows, resin craft, local gemstones, jewellery, children’s clothing, metal art, soaps, bath bombs, candles, interior decor, custom sips, mushroom art, pebble art and much more. Bring the family and enjoy something to eat and drink, with the Eldorado Pizza Co truck on site as well as Emma and her coffee van to cater for all your needs. The Eldorado Springfest Artisan Market will be held on Saturday, 22 November from 10am to 2pm in Gunhouse Park opposite the pub (or in the hall if it rains) and everyone is welcome.

Angie's Angles Charity Dinner at Da Vinci Social Club

This year's Angie’s Angels Charity Dinner Dance, raising funds to provide vital support to children in need, will be held at the Da Vinci Social Club on Saturday, 22 November from 6pm.

Angie’s Angels, a sub-fund of Into Our Hands Community Foundation, was established in loving memory of Angie Siperki-Marotta, who passed away in 2016 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

All are welcome to come along and enjoy an unforgettable night of laughter, entertainment and giving, with live music by Legends of Oz, a delicious three-course meal and a silent auction, with tickets available at Eventbrite.

Sculpture and watercolour exhibition at Art Gallery on Ovens

A joint exhibition of sculpture by Ron Ahl, and watercolour paintings by Jana Brook, is showing at the Art Gallery on Ovens in the laneway off Murphy Street in Wangaratta.

The exhibition features artworks created over the last 12 months, including both smaller and larger scale feature sculptures and birdbaths made by Ron using primarily recycled materials including metal and wood, and Jana's collection of beautiful watercolour landscapes painted both "en plein air" and in her Benalla studio.

The gallery is open daily from 10am to 4pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 2pm and entry is free, until Monday, 24 November.

Wangaratta Swap Meet and Show 'n' Shine

Local service and community groups have again joined forces to present the Wangaratta Swap Meet and Show 'n' Shine, being held at the Wangaratta Showgrounds on Sunday, 23 November.

Wangaratta Rod & Custom Club is overseeing site bookings and co-ordination of the event, with Wangaratta Lions Club to serve their delicious all-day breakfast, and other food vendors also on site.

The Show’ n' Shine display is being managed by the Early Holden Club of Wangaratta, with trophies in all categories of vehicles, with cars to be parked by 9.30am and trophy presentations at 11am.

Public entry to the swap meet will be from 7am to 2pm at a cost of $5 per person (children U12 free) with stallholder enquiries to Colin on 0448 006 066.

Waiting for God wraps up this weekend

The Wangaratta Players production of feel-good comedy Waiting for God continues at the Stage Door Studio in Evans Street, Wangaratta this weekend.

The play by Michael Aitkens looks at the challenges of growing old ‘disgracefully’, set in the Bayview Retirement Village, where battle-axe extraordinaire Diana Trent conspires with resident Tom Ballard to give the conniving manager his comeuppance, with heart-warming results.

The hit show has now sold out with a waiting list in place for the final performances on November 22 and 23.

Overland exhibition at Wangaratta Art Gallery

The first solo hometown exhibition of nationally acclaimed, Wangaratta-born artist Matthew Harris, is being presented at the Wangaratta Art Gallery until 18 January.

The Melbourne-based artist creates thought-provoking works in painting and sculpture that critically examine social power structures and historical narratives.

His exhibition, Overland unpacks the lasting impact of colonisation on the Wangaratta region and its First Peoples, in a new series of paintings informed by historical documents, alongside textile sculpture With a Warm Embrace, 2023; part of the Wangaratta Art Gallery collection.

Wangaratta community market

The Wangaratta community market runs every Sunday (except Easter Sunday) at Moore Than Swimming, located at 11-13 Mason Street in Wangaratta, from 8am until 1pm.

There are a wide range of stalls to browse with new and used items, plants, fruit and veg and more, with refreshments available.

Wangaratta Historical Society open weekends

Take a trip down memory lane each weekend by visiting the Wangaratta Historical Society and Museum in the old fire station in Ford Street.

The museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 1pm and entry is free, with exhibitions updated regularly.
