Dry conditions this month have continued in North East Victoria and further north to well into NSW and in outback QLD where maximum temperatures have been a few degrees above the November normal with serious fire danger.

Maximum temperatures in Victoria and the Riverina were two degrees below normal with more frosts than normal and it was actually cooler than October.

The last time that October was warmer than November in the same year was in 2015.

Alpine resorts continued to be packed with further snowfalls this month.

There have been more strong winds during November in Victoria than usual and with temperatures below normal this does make things quite unbearable at times during the day.

Other lower readings in Melbourne in November were in 1875, 1898 and 1916.

The one in 1898 led to 43 degrees in early December 1898.

The others led to wet conditions in December and January.

Melbourne has been wetter than average in both October and November but it has been drier than average in both months at major centres in North East Victoria.

Wangaratta so far this month has only recorded 24mms, which is half the average November rainfalll.

The last time both months were wetter than average in Melbourne whilst it was drier than average at centres in North East Victoria was back in 1923.

The summer of 1923-24 was very wet over Victoria but temperatures topped 40 degrees in December 1923 and January 1924.
