Firefighters are continuing to try and bring a bushfire under control near Markwood and Whorouly.
In a Watch and Act update issued by the CFA at 6pm this evening, authorities said the fire was still not under control, but firefighters had been able to slow the spread of the fire for now.
"But the situation can change at any time and you must monitor conditions and be ready to act," the statement said, indicating that "leaving now is the safest option".
The bushfire is travelling from Snow Road in a south-easterly direction towards Whorouly-Bobinawarrah Road.
Road closures remain in place at the intersection of Snow Road and Carboor-Everton Road, and Markwood to Whorouly Road at Whorouly.
Further road closures are proposed and people are advised to check the VicTraffic website (VicTraffic) or call 13 11 70 for road closures.
