Police are investigating a collision involving a 10-year-old boy along Appin Street, Wangaratta on Tuesday morning.

Senior Constable James Schifferle of Wangaratta Highway Patrol said about 8:40am a vehicle collided with the boy on his way to school, not far from the Bill Eaton Athletics Complex.

Sen Const Schifferle said the boy was taken to Wangaratta hospital with minor injuries and the occupants of the car were unscathed.

A fast police and paramedic response was observed through Rowan Street after the incident occurred.

Sen Const Schifferle said while it was an isolated incident within the rural city, he urged motorists and pedestrians to remain wary on city roads.

“Be mindful of your surroundings and particularly young people if you are around school zones,” he said.
