SUNDAY will see the Ovens and King Football Netball League come together to honour the greatest players in the region, with the league to hold their annual presentation night this weekend. Greta footballer James McClounan will look to go back-to-back in the Clyde Baker Medal count, after he took the award last season by just five votes from Goorambat’s Jamie Dunne. Both McClounan and Dunne have produced incredible seasons, and will be in the medal conversation yet again, while Bonnie Doon’s Matt Hedin, King Valley’s Sam Evans, and Bright’s Joe Gray will likely receive plenty of votes. Some of the leagues' forwards may pick up votes for their goal kicking efforts, with Cooper Thomason (Bright), Frazer Judd (Greta), and Duane Haebich (Goorambat) all having kicked at least 70 goals each. In terms of the netball, last season’s joint Fay Morgan medallists Mia Tanner and Tegan White have continued to shine for their sides, and will likely poll highly again on Sunday. Tarrawingee sharpshooter Kaylee Allan will feature prominently in the vote count, while Jorja Reidy (Greta), Emily Canny (Milawa), Shani Rickard (King Valley) and Portia Keatch (Bonnie Doon) are expected to poll well. On top of the vote count, the night will reveal the team of the year for football and netball, with rising star, goal kicking and goal shooting awards to be given out as well. The 2024 Ovens and King Football Netball League presentation night commences at 5.30pm on Sunday, August 18, at Quality Hotel, Wangaratta Gateway.
