Racegoers are in for a treat this Saturday, as the Insite Real Estate Christmas Party Race Day kicks off at the Wangaratta Turf Club from 11:30am.

The event promises an action-packed program of seven races, making it one of the region’s most anticipated pre-Christmas gatherings.

The day is all about celebrating the festive season in true country racing style.

General admission starts at just $10, ensuring accessibility for all race enthusiasts.

On the track, punters will have plenty to cheer about.

With prizemoney totalling $184,000 across the day, expect strong fields and fierce competition.

Local trainers are gearing up for the big day, with several stables targeting home-track success.

Local racetrack analyst Graeme Taylor said local trainers will have a big say in the Insite Real Estate Christmas Party Races in Wangaratta tomorrow with some 40 horses accepted in the 10 race program.

"Ben Brisbane will lead the charge with 12 acceptances, Andrew Dale with six and Craig Weeding with five, while other local trainers in John and Chris Ledger, Mathew Hahne, Ashleigh Smith, Dan McCarthy, John Fitzgerald, Scott McIntosh and Jeffrey Kyne also have runners," he said.

"The first race is to kick off at 12.04 pm with the last at 5.24 pm.

"The track is presently rated a Good 4, with the chance of a shower or two, to have little impact."

Dan McCarthy, who combines racehorse training with football coaching, can play a key role in results with Nepela his best chance in Race 7.

McCarthy said his other runners in Son of Zorro and The Cuban are all chances, but will need luck from wide draws, while Dilution in Race 8 is drawn well and has good Wangaratta form.

Off the track, racegoers can enjoy live music, festive food and drinks, and the vibrant social scene that makes this event a favourite on the local calendar.

Whether you’re chasing a winner or simply soaking up the summer racing vibe, the Wangaratta Turf Club is the place to be this Saturday.
