Wangaratta soccer star Poppy O'Keeffe made her A-League Women's debut on Sunday, taking the field for Melbourne Victory in extra time during the club's round two clash with Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 17-year-old, who recently became the first female player to progress through the full Victory Academy pathway to sign with the first-team, ran on for her first couple of minutes of professional game-time in the 91st minute of the match, which Victory won 4-1.

It followed her trip to Brisbane with Victory the previous week, when she was an unused sub on the bench against Brisbane Roar.

O'Keeffe said Sunday's run brought a mix of nerves and excitement, and she's hoping to build on her game-time during the season.
