IN an exciting partnership, the Centre Against Violence (CAV) has teamed up with “Internet Safe Education” to empower local youth with vital tech safety workshops.
The workshops will be delivered by Erin Cash, former undercover internet detective with experience in family violence, resilience, effective relationships and consent.
In person workshops will be held this week at the Wangaratta High School and Cathedral College.
Over two sessions, students from years seven to 12 will delve into the world of online safety.
From cyberbullying to managing explicit content, sexting, and more, participants will gain essential skills to navigate online activity with confidence.
A free online workshop is also open to parents and their families to attend online, to be held on Tuesday, February 20 from 5.30-7pm.
Community members can register online via: https://event.webinarjam.com/register/252/lx9zos87.
Laura Tonkin, community connections co-ordinator for the Centre Against Violence said, it’s not just the students who will benefit from the program.
“As a part of this program, the online workshop will be also run specifically for parents and caregivers; together, we will explore strategies for protection and prevention while supporting our children to navigate the online world,” she said.
“By empowering our young people and their families, we're building a safer, more connected community together."
