A1: Wangaratta Hyundai A1 fell away late in the game against Rutherglen on Saturday.

The home side finished off the game much better than the visitors after Wang held the lead well into the second half.

Maurie Braden, Rho Smith, Peter Selwood and Graeme Smith were in front all day and grabbed a crucial rink win 19-14.

Phil Davern’s rink were in front for the majority of their match but dropped away to lose 17-21, while Laurie McDonald’s rink lost 14-21 and Adrian Pantling went down 16-27.

Final scores: Wangaratta 2 pts 66 shots lost to Rutherglen 16 pts 83 shots.

Next week Wangaratta will travel to Corowa RSL.

A4: Wangaratta Niko’s Butchery A4 moved back into the top three after a strong home win against Wodonga on Saturday.

Terry Corrigan, Ric Chivers, John Keen and Tyson Chivers paved the way for a crucial win as they dominated their rink, winning 34-12, while Terry Johnson, Murray Lawn, Barb McDonald and Bobby McCalman posted an easy win (21-14).

Gary King, Michael Howard, Greg McDonald and Nev Jones added another two points (19-17), while Richie Allan’s rink went down 6-33.

Final scores: Wangaratta 16 pts 81 shots def Wodonga 2 pts 75 shots.

Wang will host Corowa RSL next week.

A5: Wang Luminosity A5 got all rinks up in a strong win at home against Chiltern on Saturday.

Lyn Kahlefeldt, Graeme Bull, Barry Watt and Heather Coyle had a comfortable win (22-15), while Ken Essenhigh, Chris Bell, Susan Bull and Ros Howard saluted by three, 21-18.

Keith Izard, Ron McAuliffe, Carmel Anderson and Kevin Lenehan made it a clean sweep for the hosts with a 23-20 victory.

Final scores: Wangaratta 16 pts 66 shots def Chiltern 0 pts 53 shots.

Wang will host Yackandandah next week.

B2: Wang WinSec B2 were no match for undefeated Corowa RSL at Wang on Saturday.

Neil Reid (15-19) and Mick Lennane (21-26) both put up strong showings against the top side, while Graeme Norman’s rink found the going a bit tougher, losing 13-22.

Final scores: Wang 0 pts 49 shots lost to Corowa RSL 14 pts 67 shots.

Wangaratta will travel to St James next week.
